July 2026 - Dane Tippett

Since starting out in a Beginner 1 class at Tierra a year and a half ago, Dane has been wholly dedicated to his Spanish studies and has made great strides! Motivated to study Spanish by his love of travel and desire to challenge himself to learn new things, he seized the opportunity to practice his skills this year when he made a trip to Spain. Analytical in nature, Dane tends to ask the questions that coax out shades of meaning and benefit the whole class. He is warm and kind and clearly enjoys building relationships with his classmates. We are honored to count Dane among our amazing community of students and look forward to seeing him cheerfully continue on his learning journey.

1) Why are you studying Spanish?

"I love travelling and learning! International travel while only speaking one language was a bit of a challenge though, so Spanish seemed like a straightforward way to open up more of the world to me. I also get a lot of enjoyment out of learning new things and experiencing the feeling of understanding something that didn't make sense at first, and what's a better way of seeking out that feeling than by learning a new language?"

2) What is your favorite part about your experience here at Tierra?

"Every instructor I've had at Tierra has always been very friendly and open to answering all my questions about the Spanish language".

3) Can you tell us of a time you have been able to use what you have learned studying here?

"I traveled to Spain earlier this year with my Dad! Since he doesn't speak Spanish, I had to translate a lot for him, but I also had the opportunity to practice my Spanish-speaking skills with service workers and tour guides while I was there, it was great to have a chance to practice!"
