Full of positive energy and optimism, Patricia is like a ray of sunshine in every Spanish class! A dedicated nurse who has Puerto Rican heritage, Patricia has been motivated to learn Spanish both to connect with her Spanish-speaking family members and to be able to better serve her patients. With a great sense of humor and natural friendliness, Patricia forms strong bonds with her classmates and enjoys the dynamic of learning in a group setting. We are honored to count Patricia as part of our amazing community of students at Tierra and are delighted to continue to accompany her on her learning journey.

Why are you studying Spanish?

"I am studying Spanish to be able to communicate more fluently with my family (I have family from Puerto Rico and my in-laws are Mexican) and also the Spanish speaking families that I work with at the hospital".

What is your favorite part about your experience here at Tierra?

"I love getting to know my classmates and feeling the camaraderie between us, it makes coming to Spanish class so fun!"

Can you tell us of a time you have been able to use what you have learned studying here?

"My good friend is from Colombia, and during her mother's last visit we chatted in Spanish and it was great to realize I could be a part of dinner conversation rather than just listening and understanding bits and pieces".
